more K- 9 calls for service. In my eyes,
it’s a win–win situation.
The fact that you all train together
suggests that all the teams are, for the
most part, on the same page. That is
extremely important when a K- 9 team
goes to another jurisdiction on an
assist. It is essential that the hosting
agency knows what to expect from the
visiting K- 9 team and that it is comfortable working with them. If your
teams are training together on a regular
basis, that should be easily achieved.
It is important to ensure that the
administrators from all of the agencies
also are on the same page in terms of
reciprocity, who will pay for overtime
incurred, etc. A joint mutual-aid
agreement is a good idea, or at least a
mutual understanding of what can be
expected from each agency. The parameters on our unit leave the decision
